New Campus Bridge Mainz
Mainz, 2008 - 2015
Transport infrastructure buildings
schneider+schumacher and Schüßler-Plan jointly won first prize in the invited competition for the new bridge over Koblenzer Straße in Mainz. The City of Mainz invited three architect and structural engineering teams to submit their proposals.
The awarded bridge will connect the campuses of Gutenberg University and the University of Applied Sciences Mainz. Thanks to its length to width ratio and the fantastic view it offers over the Rhine Valley, the bridge functions like a kind of meeting point between the two campuses. Furthermore, seen from the road underneath the bridge becomes a recognisable landmark for both academies.
