Gutleutstrasse

Frankfurt am Main
Office/administration buildings

The factory in Gutleutstrasse was built in 1900. Today it has protected status as a listed building. The representative fine sandstone street façade is elaborately ornamented, while the courtyard façade is simply made of red bricks. The new steel and glass staircase echoes the ambivalence of the two aspects of the old building, precisely because it is so very different. The new glass facade employs a point-fixed glass system, used for the first time in Germany. The project was completed in 1987.
