2nd prize in GIZ Campus competition
In an international architectural competition to design the new campus of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) in Frankfurt-Eschborn, schneider+schumacher was awarded 2nd prize. The aim of the competition was to create a new and highly flexible office building for the GIZ, geared towards the most recent organisational development and providing some 1,000 workplaces.
The design by schneider+schumacher expresses the identity and approach of the GIZ both externally and internally with the aim of immediately giving employees and visitors a sense of the creative, responsible and innovative concepts and activities that take place here. Above plinth level, buildings are arranged in a U around four inner courtyards, alternating along a central axis, to facilitate communication between departments. In addition to providing extra conference rooms, this entire zone with open loggias and generous external spaces offers an ideal platform for all kinds of flexible working patterns. The independent and self-confident new building forms a sequel to the existing buildings on the adjacent plot, yet without relegating them to the sidelines.
