Award ceremony in Mannheim
Under exceptional circumstances, plaques for the award “Exemplary Building Mannheim 2013-2020” were presented to the winners in a ceremony in late October. Baden-Württemberg’s Chamber of Architects and the City of Mannheim made these awards to “seventeen unconventional buildings that exemplify conceptual strength and historic relevance”, all completed during the past seven years in Mannheim. Among the award-winning schemes is the Mannheim Business School study and conference centre designed by schneider+schumacher. All these projects will be on view in the City Hall from 20 October to 14 November.
Standing on the stage for the award ceremony in Mannheim’s Multihalle (from left to right) are: Lothar Quast, Mannheim’s director of planning; Meike Jung, Kai Otto and Michael Schumacher, the architects responsible for the project from schneider+schumacher; Bernd Müller Christian Werner and Tina Schwesinger, the clients from Vermögen und Bau Baden-Württemberg, Amt Mannheim; and Prof. Jörg Aldinger, the jury’s chairman.
