Framing the View
From May to October, the valley of Rems invites visitors to attend this year’s garden show, spread over 16 towns and municipalities. At each of the locations, an architectural practice was commissioned to create an intervention with nature. The Prism – schneider+schumacher’s contribution – extends along the Grafenberg hill in Schorndorf, not far from the state capital Stuttgart, and its top and vertical openings point towards the vineyard slopes, while the horizontal opening directs views towards the valley. The natural timber cladding blends seamlessly into the surroundings, contrasting with the red interior. Carefully inserted in the landscape, the structure provides visitors with unique views of nature through its openings, highlighting the particular section observed.
