International Highrise Award 2024/25
The International Highrise Award takes place every two years, as a collaborative endeavour involving the City of Frankfurt am Main, the German Architecture Museum (DAM) and the DekaBank. The prize is awarded to buildings selected from a worldwide pool that are 100 metres high or higher, and whose design is considered exemplary in terms of sustainability, external form, and the quality of the interior space.
This year, a total of 31 projects from 13 countries were nominated. With a total of eight buildings, most of these nominated high-rise buildings are located in China – including the Shenzhen Qianhai Telecommunication Center (TCC) designed by schneider+schumacher. This – the world’s first high-rise data center – is 110 metres high and offers space for up to 3,515 mainframe computers. The lower floors house a post office and a spacious welcoming lobby space, designed to actively anchor the building in public city life. The control rooms are located on the top floor, from which all data traffic is controlled. There, the terraces with their large glazed panels allow ample light into the workspaces, while offering a breath-taking view of the city and the bay.
The five finalists will be announced in the autumn and the winner will be selected in mid-November at the Paulskirche in Frankfurt am Main.
