Topping out ceremony in Göttingen
Against the backdrop of a grey day, a wreath was hauled up to mark the topping out of the amedes Competence Centre, currently under construction. The ceremony took place at the end of June and was attended by around 200 invited guests from various sectors – science, politics, administration and finance – at the Innovations district in Herbert Quandt Strasse in Göttingen‘s Siekhöhe neighbourhood. Among the visitors were (photo, left to right): Jens Thurau, Associate and Head of Acoustics Germany at Arup; Aleksandra Ginic, project leader at schneider+schumacher; Thies Baumgarten from EBR Projektentwicklung GmbH; Zhiang Zhang from Arup; and Ewan McLeod, an Associate Director at Arup.
The amedes Competence Centre will be the first project to be completed at the EBR Immobilien-built “Herbert Quandt Strasse Innovation District”, Göttingen’s new location for medicine, life sciences, science and research. By 2024, the 19,400 m2 site will comprise an administration building, a flagship laboratory and a logistics centre for the Europe-wide laboratory service provider. By next year, some 600 amedes employees are due to occupy the building ensemble. In addition to planning the amedes administration building – which, when finished, will have a particularly striking appearance due to its vertically planted green south façade – schneider+schumacher also took on the urban planning of the innovation district.
