Biennale with a Mission

27.06.2019 - Notes

Designed as a bicycle and pedestrian bridge, the Ölhafen Bridge has become an important feature of many bicycle tours in the Rhine-Main region. Now it has been selected by the BYCS Initiative together with the NEXT architectural office as one of fifteen bicycle-friendly structures to be exhibited at the Bicycle Architecture Biennale 2019 (BAB) in Amsterdam. The aim of the exhibition is to demonstrate how bicycle architecture can create places that are worth living in and thus enhance the overall quality of the city.
The “Biennale with a mission” is part of the large-scale project “50by30”, which claims that by the year 2030 it should be possible to make 50 per cent of all city trips by bicycle.
This year 15 projects from 9 different countries were selected for the exhibition in Amsterdam, which will be the starting point for a worldwide travelling exhibition.
